JOSEPHINE BARRESI was born Aug. 15, 1910, in Brooklyn, to Eleanor and Lawrence Alfano. Josephine worked full-time in a coat factory in Brooklyn while raising three children (Frank, Marie and Eleanor) as a single parent with help from her family. Josephine enjoyed going to the beach, taking long walks through Brooklyn, family gatherings and visiting her eight grandchildren who lived on Long Island. According to her family, she was helpful to her neighbors and friends. Josephine has 13 great-grandchildren. She has lived in Seaford with her daughter, Eleanor, for the past 15 years. She celebrated her birthday at a party with family and friends. Josephine enjoys visits from her family, folding the family laundry and watching Mass on television.
