Charging taxes per school kid's not fair

Deep cuts are looming for the nation's public schools
Regarding the letter "Charge more taxes to large families" [March 28], the writer proposes that families with more than three children pay more in school taxes.
In keeping with that line of reasoning, one would assume that if a family has no children in the public school system, or just no children at all, then those families should pay no school taxes. How many of us would consider these fair options?
