St. Anthony’s basketball star Charise Wilson verbally committed to Northeastern University today, according to Friars coach Ken Parham.

The junior helped lead St. Anthony’s to a third straight league title and another appearance in the CHSAA state tournament. Wilson, a 5-5 point guard, transferred from North Babylon during her sophomore year in 2011 and sat out the remainder of that season. She averaged 11.8 points, four assist and three steals per game this past season for St. Anthony’s.

"She's a complete player that can do it all on the offensive end - shoot, dribble and pass," Parham said of Wilson. "She's also a great defender and makes her teammates better."

Wilson will join a Northeastern women’s basketball program that is on the rise. The team went 8-22 in the 2011-12 season but improved to 17-13 and reached the Colonial Athletic Association tournament. Academically, the university ranked 56th in a US News & World Report poll.
