Cherry tree marks Earth Day in Brookhaven
A tree grows in Brookhaven, the result of an Earth Day event last week.
Town Supervisor Mark Lesko and other officials planted a Kwanzan cherry tree in front of Town Hall in Farmingville.
“This tree is symbolic of our commitment to protect the environment of Brookhaven Town,” said Lesko. Earth Day is a reminder, he said, “that we live on an ecologically diverse and sensitive island and that we must do whatever we can to preserve it for future generations.“
