Christian Day Parade set for Huntington Station

Members of several Hispanic evangelical congregations are going to join a religious parade that will close Huntington Station’s main road Saturday, as they seek to send a message of unity and renewal to that community, organizers said.

The event, dubbed the Christian Day Parade, will consist of prayers, a religious procession and a religious service at its end.

Although the parade is organized by the Iglesia Luz de Salvación and the Porter-Trejo Action Network, it will be open to members of other churches and people from the community, organizers said.

“We want it to be something hopeful for the community and to bring us all together,” said Guillermo Pérez, president of the Porter-Trejo group.

The parade and service will take place from 10 a.m. to noon starting at 15th Street and New York Avenue and moving north to the railroad station, where the religious service will take place.
