Christine McVie rejoins Fleetwood Mac, 'On With the Show' tour on tap
Fleetwood Mac is back at full strength.
After retiring following 1998's "The Dance" tour, Christine McVie has rejoined the Rock and Roll Hall of Famers and they are all ready to hit the road.
The "On With the Show" tour, which starts Sept. 30 in Minneapolis, includes an Oct. 6 show at Madison Square Garden and an Oct. 11 date at Prudential Center in Newark. Tickets go on sale April 7 at 10 a.m. through Live Nation. American Express cardholders can start purchasing presale tickets on Monday at 10 a.m.
McVie said the idea for a return came after joining the band for its London show at the O2 Arena last year.
"It was so comfortable being back onstage with them as if no time had passed, and then we all started talking and it feels like the time is right," she said in a statement. "I'm really happy."
The rest of Fleetwood Mac -- singer Stevie Nicks, guitarist/singer Lindsey Buckingham, drummer Mick Fleetwood and bassist John McVie -- have publicly and privately wished for her return since her exit from the band due to a fear of flying.
When Christine McVie said she retired, she even sold off all her pianos and keyboards, not knowing that Nicks bought them in hopes that one day McVie would need them again.
"As far as we're concerned, she's never really left," the band said in a joint statement. "We are overjoyed to have Christine back on stage with us."
