A Wyandanch church that was destroyed by an arson fire will continue rebuilding with a groundbreaking ceremony Wednesday.

Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Roman Catholic Church was struck by a fire in December 2007 that gutted the church’s rectory, priests' residences and outreach center.

Last year the church rebuilt the rectory and residences, but it struggled to finance the Gerald Ryan Outreach Center, which served 1,000 people a month before the fire with such services as job assistance and a food pantry.

Now, with financial aid from the Diocese of Rockville Centre as well as parishioners and others making donations from all across Long Island, a new “green” outreach center will be built.

The ceremonial groundbreaking will take place at 10 a.m. at 1434 Straight Path.
