The Seaford Wellness Council on Saturday will sponsor the seventh annual community cleanup of Tackapausha Preserve.

The four-hour cleanup will start at 9 a.m. as part of the American Hiking Society’s National Trails Day 2011 celebration.

Volunteers will meet in front of the Tackapausha Preserve Museum building on Washington Avenue and Merrick Road in Seaford.

“This is a worthwhile effort to help make Seaford a better community in a real hands-on way,” council secretary and event chairman Peter Ruffner said in a statement.

Several community organizations, including the Seaford Chamber of Commerce, the Seaford Lions Club and the Seaford High School’s Key Club, are scheduled to participate, said Mike DiSilvio, president of the Wellness Council.

A volunteer appreciation barbecue, partially funded by the Seaford Lions Club, will be held at noon.

For more information, call Ruffner at 516-785-5327 or visit the Seaford Wellness Council's website.
