Clouds, rain move toward LI today
Wednesday will start off pleasant, but clouds will make their way toward Long Island later in the day ahead of a system off to the west.
Highs on Wednesday will be average to just slightly below, ranging from 38 to 41 degrees. Winds will shift out of the east from 10-15 mph.
After over an inch of rain drenched much of Long Island Sunday night into Monday morning, the week has been very dry and quiet to this point. That will all change Wednesday night as clouds begin to move in before the next rainfall.
The rain is predicted to arrive about 3 a.m. Thursday. The showers are expected to start off light on Thursday morning, but heavy rain may be imminent by Thursday evening and Friday.
The record high for March 9 is 63 degrees set in 2002, and the low is a chilly 12 degrees set in 2007.

1956: A whopping 367 inches of snow was measured on the ground at the Ranier Paradise Ranger Station in Washington. The snow depth was a state record and the second highest total on record for the continental United States.
