Clouds with breaks of sun for a warm Tuesday on LI
A warm day is in store for Long Island on Tuesday. High temperatures will be well into the 70s with the majority of Long Island feeling temperatures between 73 to 76 degrees. Slightly cooler conditions will prevail along the coastal regions.
Conditions will be foggy in the early-morning hours, before eventually burning off. Skies will be cloudy early on, but the sun should break out later in the day as a warm front moves north of the area.
The air mass left in place once the front moves north is going to be a warm and very humid one. Tuesday will feel very warm and moist with winds out of the south around 10 to 15 mph.
Extended outlook: Conditions will be mostly cloudy and humid into Wednesday, although cooler than Tuesday. A cold front will move through on Thursday, and high pressure will build in for the weekend. Thursday's cold front could produce some violent thunderstorms.

Fun Fact: Wonder why afternoon conditions where so pleasant yesterday, before quickly giving way to cold, foggy and damp weather? The day time heating was initially enough to burn through any fog and lower clouds, with sunshine breaking through in the afternoon. Temperatures soared into the 70s. However, as the sun began to set, the lower stratus clouds and fog over the chilly Atlantic Ocean quickly began to move inland northward across Long Island, turning a beautiful afternoon into a damp and dreary evening.
