Coastal flood advisory in effect tonight
A coastal flood advisory has been issued for 7 p.m. Monday until midnight for the South Shore and East End bays and eastern Long Island Sound, according to the National Weather Service.
Minor to moderate flooding of vulnerable low-lying areas is expected at high tide, the service said.
Tidal departures are expected to be 1 1/2 to 2 feet above astronomical tides, forecasters said.
A coastal flood advisory "indicates that onshore winds and tides will combine to generate flooding of low areas along the shore," according to the National Weather Service.
