Ashley Cole came up aces again as she struck out 11 in a one-hitter to lift No. 1 Carle Place to a 10-0 win over Oyster Bay in Game 2 Thursday of a Nassau Class B best-of-three final at Mitchel Athletic Complex.
On Wednesday Cole tossed a perfect game for the Frogs (20-3).
Carle Place advances to play the winner of Babylon vs. Center Moriches on June 5, where they will look to capture a second straight Long Island championship and then make a run at a state title.
Brooke Topel went 2-for-3 with four RBIs and Leanne Lannucci went 2-for-3 in the win.
"I try not to think about any pressure," Topel said of trying to get a clutch hit. "I felt relaxed up there. I feel like I did my job and I'm really happy."
Cole is hoping to add a state championship plaque to her extensive high school resume.
"It would mean everything because it's my last time playing with this team," Cole said. "It's just time to do it."
Carle Place coach Chris Ceruti is confident her team has what it takes to move on.
"The team was extremely confident. They worked as a team," Ceruti said. "I had a very veteran group that knew how to get the job done."
