College basketball report: No. 2 UConn thumps No. 1 Stanford
The second-ranked Connecticut women's basketball team snapped top-ranked Stanford's nation-leading 82-game home winning streak with a surprisingly easy 61-35 victory Saturday at Maples Pavilion.
Connecticut had its NCAA- record 90-game winning streak stopped at Maples Pavilion with a 71-59 loss to Stanford two years ago on Dec. 30.
Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis led UConn (11-0) with 19 points. Chiney Ogwumike had 18 points and 13 rebounds for Stanford (11-1) but struggled in the post as the Cardinal lost at home for the first time since March 2007. Stanford shot just 19.3 percent (11-for-57).
"It was a bad day," Stanford coach Tara VanDerveer said. "Whatever we were trying to do, we really struggled with it. Connecticut came in here on a mission. Mission accomplished."
Connecticut's Stefanie Dolson had 10 points and 14 rebounds. North Babylon's Bria Hartley and Kelly Faris also scored 10 each.
"Our game two years ago, it was a national event. I don't think tonight was a national event," Connecticut coach Geno Auriemma said. "We beat a really good Stanford team on their home court and they happened to have won a lot of games at home."
Auriemma was booed by the crowd during pregame introductions and when he was whistled for a technical foul with his team ahead by 19 points with 13:22 remaining.
Baylor 106, Southeastern Louisiana 41: Jordan Madden scored all 13 of her points in the first half for No. 3 Baylor (10-1) in Waco, Texas. The Lady Bears (10-1) have won 46 consecutive home games, now the longest active streak in women's college basketball. Southeastern Louisiana is 7-4.
MEN'S GAMES
Duke 90, Santa Clara 77: Seth Curry scored 12 of his season-high 31 points during a late run that helped host No. 1 Duke (12-0) pull away from pesky Santa Clara. Mason Plumlee added 22 points and 13 rebounds for the Blue Devils, who needed a huge run late to overcome Kevin Foster (29 points) and the Broncos (11-3).
"We're going to keep playing teams where our game is their season," Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski said. "That's something that most people never, ever compete against, where you're always competing against somebody's best. At Duke, a lot of teams have free money against us because the story is not us winning -- the story is us losing, and that's the way it's been for 25 years."
Michigan 88, Central Michigan 73: Trey Burke had 22 points for host No. 2 Michigan (13-0), which played without star Tim Hardaway Jr. (ankle). Central Michigan is 7-6.
Louisville 80, Kentucky 77: Russ Smith scored 21 points as host No. 4 Louisville (12-1) ended a four-game losing streak against rival Kentucky (8-4).

North Carolina 79, UNLV 73: P.J. Hairston scored 15 points for unranked UNC (10-3) in Chapel Hill, N.C. No. 20 UNLV (11-2) was led by freshman Anthony Bennett, who had 15 points and 13 rebounds.
UConn's Ollie gets new deal. Connecticut has given men's basketball coach Kevin Ollie a new contract that runs through the 2017-18 season. The deal is worth about $7 million and begins Jan. 1. When Ollie was hired in September, he was signed for one season.-- AP
