Airport planning consultant Landrum & Brown, of Chicago, will have exhibits on display, and town and airport officials will answer questions from the community and engage in dialogue. The audience may submit written or spoken recommendations to the airport officials. There is no formal presentation planned.

“MacArthur Airport is a resource that is unique to Islip among other Long Island towns and must have a solid plan in place which incorporates a strong vision for the future,” Councilman John Cochrane Jr., liaison to the airport, said in a release. “We have a responsibility to ensure that the airport is as successful as possible while balancing the concerns and hopes of local residents.”

LIRR representatives are expected to attend the forum to discuss the stations, service, the LIRR’s responses to past requests and to answer questions from commuters. The event will be next Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at the Seaford Public Library, 2234 Jackson Ave., Seaford.

Although the LIRR is a state, and not a county, authority, Denenberg said he provides these forums to address issues raised by commuters in his district. Denenberg represents Bellmore, North Bellmore, Merrick and parts of Freeport, North Merrick and Wantagh.

Some of the past issues raised have been problems with escalators, needed stations repairs and railroad parking permits, officials said.
