A Brooklyn construction company has been awarded two state contracts to upgrade concession stands inside government buildings in Suffolk County.

SH5 Construction Corp. was the lowest bidder for the contracts to build concession stands inside the Internal Revenue Service Building in Holtsville and the County Criminal Court in Riverhead, according to a news release from the state Office of General Services Commissioner.

The company submitted the lowest bids in a group of five. SH5 bid $188,613 for the IRS building and $192,950 for the courthouse.

The concession stands, which are operated by the Commission for the Blind and Visually Handicapped, will have upgrades to the electrical systems, painting, HVAC, cabinetry, refrigeration, signage, security, and lighting, among other work, according to OGS staff.

“The Office of General Services requires the participation of minority and women-owned businesses in its procurement and construction programs and requires that minority and women-owned business enterprises (M/WBEs) and minority and women employees be given the opportunity to participate,” the OGS release said.

SH5 Construction’s website said the company is “proud to be recognized as Minority-owned and Women-owned Business Enterprises (W/MBE) in the Tri-state area.”
