Conference finals: Virginia beats Duke for first ACC title in 38 years
Sixth-ranked Virginia claimed its first Atlantic Coast Conference tournament title since 1976 yesterday by beating No. 7 Duke, 72-63, in Greensboro, N.C. Tournament MVP Joe Harris scored 15, including a late backbreaking three-pointer for the Cavaliers. Virginia (28-6) used a 12-3 run to pull away and claim its second ACC Tournament title in school history. Jabari Parker scored 23 points for the Blue Devils (26-8).
Florida 61, Kentucky 60: Top-ranked Florida (32-2) capped a perfect run through the Southeastern Conference when unranked Kentucky (24-10) failed to get off a shot on its final possession, allowing the Gators to escape in the league championship game in Atlanta.
Michigan St. 69, Michigan 55: Adreian Payne scored 18 points to lead No. 22 Michigan State (26-8) to its second Big Ten Tournament title in three years with an upset of No. 8 Michigan (25-8) in Indianapolis.
Louisiana-Lafayette 82, Georgia State 81:Xavian Rimmer scored a career-high 27 points and Louisiana-Lafayette (23-11) rallied from a nine-point deficit in the last three minutes of regulation to force overtime and beat Georgia State (25-7) for the Sun Belt Conference championship in New Orleans.-- AP
