8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Connetquot High School, Ronkonkoma Middle School and Oakdale-Bohemia Middle School.

THE BUDGET

The proposed budget for 2010-11 is $161,836,925, an increase of 2.1 percent over the current budget of $158,503,628. The local tax levy would increase 3.1 percent, from $102,861,226 to $106,048,807.

The school tax paid on the average single-family house assessed at $50,000 would rise 3.1 percent, from $7,319.30 to $7,546.12.

While the contract raise for teachers is still under negotiation, the step increase will be 2.34 percent.

The budget calls for a reduction, through attrition when possible, of about 19 positions - about 16 of them in the instructional staff, including teachers, assistants and aides, and three from other staffs. Ninth-grade interscholastic athletics will be cut although some of the student athletes could join junior varsity teams.
