THE BUDGET
The district is proposing a budget of $100,507,857 for the 2010-11 school year, which is a 0.14 percent decrease from the current budget of $100,644,451. The local tax levy would rise from $51,310,415 to $52,695,844 - a 2.7 percent increase.
Taxes on an average home assessed at $3,600 would increase by 2.7 percent from $5,901.03 to $6,060.37.
The proposed budget includes a 3 percent contractual salary increase for teachers as well as a 1.2 percent step increase.
There would be a reduction of 24.1 teaching positions, 0.7 administrative positions, and 3 noninstructional positions through attrition and layoffs.
