Cops: Arrest in year-old New Cassel shooting
A Queens Village man was arrested early Saturday morning for attempted murder in connection with a shooting last year in New Cassel, Nassau police said.
Police said Robbie Thomas, 25, had argued with a 47-year-old man on Aug. 21, 2010, over something that had occurred earlier at a party. As the argument intensified, Thomas pulled out a black semiautomatic handgun, causing the victim to run, police said.
Thomas chased the man on Rushmore Street and fired one round at him but missed, police said. The victim was uninjured.
Thomas was arrested at 1:40 a.m. and charged with second-degree attempted murder, first-degree criminal use of a firearm, first-degree criminal assault, three counts of criminal possession of a weapon, and first-degree reckless endangerment. The handgun was not recovered.
Thomas pleaded not guilty at his arraignment on Sunday in First District Court in Hempstead. He was ordered held on $250,000 bail, and is due back in court on Wednesday.
