A Brentwood man was seriously injured Saturday night after a car hit him as he crossed a street in Central Islip, Suffolk County police said.

Elbin Molina, 31, was hit by a 2009 Nissan Maxima about 11 p.m. as he crossed Islip Avenue at Apple Street.

The Maxima, which was traveling north on Islip Avenue, was driven by Jonathan Torres, 28, of Massapequa. Torres and his two passengers were not injured.

Molina was taken to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore with leg and head injuries. Police said he is in serious condition.

Police are continuing their investigation, but so far no charges have been filed. The car was impounded for a safety check.
