Oleksandr Hunko, 35, of Lindenhurst, was arrested on Montauk Highway in Lindenhurst minutes after a crash on South 8th Street and was charged with driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene of an accident. (Feb. 24, 2013) Credit: Paul Mazza

A 35-year-old man was arrested and charged with drunken driving Sunday night after he struck a parked car in Lindenhurst, drove onto a lawn and then attempted to flee on foot, Suffolk County police said.

Oleksandr Hunko, 35, of Lindenhurst, was arrested on Montauk Highway in Lindenhurst minutes after the crash and was charged with driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene of an accident.

He is scheduled for arraignment Monday in First District Court in Central Islip.

Police said Hunko crashing into the parked car on South Eighth Street at 8:48 p.m. . Police said Hunko crashed onto a lawn across the street from the initial accident scene -- and then fled that scene on foot.

No one was injured in the incidents, police said.
