Nassau County police have arrested a Centerport man who they say stole several items from a locker at a Woodbury gym Tuesday.

Daniel Aronoff, 24, was arrested and charged with fourth degree grand larceny after police say he took money and sunglasses from a customer at Equinox, 7550 Jericho Tpke.

The victim, a 40-year-old man, said he saw Aronoff acting suspiciously in the locker room of the gym around 12:40 p.m., police said. When the man checked his unlocked locker, he discovered his cellphone and car keys missing.

The victim then alerted gym employees who went to his car and saw Aronoff going through the victim's trunk, police said. The employees then confronted Aronoff, who gave back the cellphone and car keys but fled the scene with cash and a pair of sunglasses.

Aronoff, who was known by some as a relative of a gym employee, was later arrested.

He is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Wednesday.
