Cops: Two in truck try to abduct boy in Wantagh
Two men in a pickup truck tried to abduct an 8-year-old boy who was riding a bicycle Tuesday in Wantagh, police said.
The boy was riding on Bayview Avenue near Bellport Avenue about 6 p.m. when the incident occurred, Nassau police said.
The men, who were in a black pickup truck, tried to coax the boy into their vehicle, police said, motioning him to get in while asking him if he wanted to go play soccer.
The boy fled for help to a nearby house, police said, and the truck fled north on Bayview Avenue toward Merrick Road.
