A decline in auto purchases pulled January sales by U.S. retailers below forecast, the Commerce Department reported. A headline Wednesday described the report incorrectly.

A story Sunday mischaracterized the 95 uniformed officer positions that Nassau County Executive Edward Mangano would eliminate in a proposed reorganization of the police precinct system. Officials say all the positions are administrative.

Larry Liquori and Jennifer Arculeo were sworn in last month as directors of the Kings Park Chamber of Commerce. A Jan. 31 story did not include their names.
