Creamery joins Kingston Farmers Market
Lazy Crazy Acres, the Catskill Mountain grazing farm and creamery, is the newest summer vendor at Kingston Farmers Market as the marketplace enters its 12th year in business.
The nearly 200-year-old farming business, which focuses on simple foods that have few ingredients, has joined the nearly 40 vendors at the farmers market that attracts as many as 2,000 visitors each weekend. This year stands to be just as well attended as it opens rain or shine May 26 and closes for the season Nov. 17.
Lazy Crazy Acres' property includes a new creamery inside its historic barn and is farmed by the DiBenedetto family, the owners of the grazing dairy Crystal Valley Farm. Lazy Crazy feeds the heifers and operates the creamery while the DiBenedetto family's farm takes care of and milks the cows.
The business joins a decade-long effort to change the economy of downtown Kingston. The farmers market opened 11 years ago with 12 vendors that sold their wares only during the summer months. The market has now grown to several dozen vendors and is open until the week before Thanksgiving.
