Creole Family Day planned Friday

Haitian-Americans on Long Island will get a chance to celebrate their Caribbean heritage during the first Creole Family Day on Friday.
The free festival, presented by Nassau County Executive Edward Mangano in association with Kompa Guide and Haitian-Americans United for Progress, will be held at Eisenhower Park’s parking fields 6 and 6A, on Hempstead Turnpike and Stewart Avenue in East Meadow, from 5 to 9:30 p.m.
The family-oriented event will feature music, food, arts and crafts, and displays. There will also be an awards ceremony, kite festival and tourism pavilion.
The event will feature special musical performances from Tabou Combo, T-Micky, Tokay and Diblo Dibla, and appearances by Bigga Haitian, Dominica Creole Dancers and Euneek.
