UniondaleGunman robs man
and woman on street
Two people were robbed by a gunman early yesterday while walking in Uniondale, Nassau County police said.
The victims, a 20-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman, were walking on Tulsa Street near Manor Parkway at 1:43 a.m. when a man carrying a handgun came up to them and demanded their property, police said.
The victims gave the man two cellphones and a wallet containing cash, then the robber fled, police said. The two victims were not injured.
The man was described as tall, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with a white T-shirt underneath, and black pants. He carried a silver handgun.

Two men shot and wounded
during the afternoon
Two men were shot Saturday afternoon in Uniondale, Nassau County police said.
Police said one man was wounded in his right leg, but the injury was not considered life-threatening.
The other man was taken to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow for treatment of his injuries, which police did not detail.
Police are continuing an investigation, but had no other information immediately available yesterday.

LawrenceDriver being held on weapon
and marijuana charges
A Lawrence man who was arrested after Nassau County police said officers found drugs and a handgun in his car was ordered held on bond yesterday.
Police said Kyheim Lameek Bethea, 32, was driving a 1998 Nissan east on Mott Avenue Saturday shortly after 3 p.m. when he was stopped for not wearing a seat belt. At his arraignment yesterday on weapons and drug charges at First District Court in Hempstead, Bethea was ordered held on $125,000 cash bail or $250,000 bond, according to court records.
He is due back in court on Wednesday.
After pulling Bethea over, officers reported smelling marijuana in the car and finding two large bags full of what they believed to be marijuana under a jacket on the rear seat.
Police said they also found a loaded .40-caliber Ruger pistol in a knapsack in the trunk of the car.
Bethea was arrested and charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, fourth-degree criminal possession of marijuana and operating a vehicle without wearing a seat belt.

ManorhavenDamage to several parked
vehicles being investigated
Nassau County police are investigating damage to several vehicles in Manorhaven between Saturday evening and Sunday morning.
Police said the damage occurred between 6 p.m. Saturday and 8:33 a.m. Sunday. A 2013 Honda and 2001 Mercedes-Benz parked on Marwood Road South had passenger-side mirrors damaged, while on Orchard Beach Boulevard, five vehicles -- a 2012 Hyundai, a 2008 Honda, a 1998 Nissan, a 2009 Chevrolet and a 2011 Ford -- had windshields broken, police said.

RiversideProstitution sting results
in charges for 5 men
Five men were arrested in a prostitution sting in Riverside, Southampton Town police said yesterday.
Police said a female undercover posed as a prostitute Friday in an area of Riverside that has been the focus of community complaints about prostitution.
The officer was solicited for sex or sex acts in exchange for money by four men, and solicited for sex by one man who offered narcotics in exchange, police said.
Police said they arrested Edalberto Velasquez, 24, Charles J. Hightower, 55, and Eduardo Xuya-Tocay, 27, all of Riverside; Jose Luis Rodriguez-Perez, 41, of Hampton Bays; and Miguel A. Hernandez, 32, of Southampton.
All were charged with third-degree patronizing a prostitute.
