Nassau police are investigating damage at a memorial to a Port Authority captain who died in the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks.

Police said a Town of Oyster Bay safety officer patrolling the Captain Kathy Mazza Memorial Park on Elm Avenue in South Farmingdale early yesterday found numerous flowers torn from the ground and thrown about the property, along with branches ripped from surrounding trees. Bricks from a retaining wall were removed and tossed about, police said.

Police have not yet identified the female body found Friday morning in a parking lot on South Clinton Avenue.

A Suffolk County police spokesman said yesterday that detectives awaited the results of a Suffolk County medical examiner's office autopsy to release further information on the case.

Police found the woman's body behind a trash container outside an apartment complex called The Birches, after a 9:15 a.m. call from a neighbor.

Det. Lt. Jack Fitzpatrick, commander of the Suffolk homicide squad, said Friday that he didn't know the victim's age or whether she was a resident of The Birches. He said police had no information about cause of death.

Suffolk County police are still searching for the person who fatally shot Long Island horseman Ross Reisner inside his Setauket home on Tuesday.

A service for Reisner is scheduled for today at 3:30 p.m. at Sinai Chapels, 162-05 Horace Harding Expy., in Fresh Meadows, Queens.

Reisner, 50, a horse trainer and riding instructor for more than two decades, was shot inside his home about 8:45 p.m. Tuesday. He died at the hospital.
