Carl Paladino, the GOP candidate for governor, told the Buffalo News that he may file trespassing charges against a team of New York Post photographers who took "close-range" photographs of the Buffalo businessman's 10-year-old daughter inside her home.

Michael Caputo, Paladino's campaign manager, talked about the possible charges Friday, a couple days after Paladino had an angry public shouting match - in full view of a horde of cameras and reporters - with the Albany-based state editor of the Post.

Old quote gets new life in Nassau race.

Democratic Assembly candidate John Brooks of Seaford, running against Republican incumbent David McDonough in the 19th Assembly District, has the local quote of the campaign so far this year:

"New York has gone from the Empire State to the Vampire State," Brooks says. "We suck every penny, nickel and dime out of people with taxes and fees."

But then, it's not really a new quote.

On June 4, 1990, Newsday's Dick Zander quoted gubernatorial candidate Herbert London as saying, "They used to call it the Empire State. Now it's known as the Vampire State. They're sucking the blood out of the working class with their taxes."

London liked the line so much that a few years later he co-authored a book called, "From Empire State to Vampire State: New York in a Downward Transition."
