With the 2010 amateur draft starting tomorrow night, it's worth recalling who from the past few draft classes first made it to the major leagues.

From 2009, it's Cincinnati pitcher Mike Leake; so far, so good. From 2008, it's San Francisco third baseman Conor Gillaspie, who isn't doing much for Double-A Richmond. From 2007, it's Washington lefty Ross Detwiler, who's on the disabled list after right hip surgery.

From 2006, it's Detroit lefty Andrew Miller, who is back in the minors with Florida. From 2005, it's Atlanta righty Joey Devine, who is on Oakland's DL after right elbow surgery. From 2004, it's Oakland righty Huston Street, who won the AL Rookie of the Year award in 2005 and could rejoin Colorado soon.

As you can see, being the first to leave the minors doesn't guarantee much.
