Deadline extended for FEMA assistance

The deadline to register for help from the Federal Emergency Management Agency for damages from Tropical Storm Irene and Tropical Storm Lee has been extended to Dec. 15, Nassau County Executive Edward Mangano announced Tuesday.
“I applaud FEMA for extending this window of opportunity to the residents of New York State,” Mangano said in his news release.
The original deadline was Oct. 31.
To register, call the FEMA Helpline at 800-621-3362 from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. any day, or register online at DisasterAssistance.gov.
