In homage to National Drinking Water Week, the Suffolk County Water Authority and Long Island Water Conference are hosting a joint groundwater symposium on May 10.

The symposium will feature panelists from the water supply industry and focus on water availability and quality, managing infrastructure and protecting Long Island’s network of aquifers.

Elected officials, experts, educators, advocates and professionals have been invited as both speakers and attendees to the event.

“We want to raise awareness of the importance of Long Island’s groundwater,” Suffolk County Water Authority chief executive Jeff Szabo said in a news release. “We hope that by doing so residents and businesses will become more proactive about helping to preserve our precious water supply and recognize the significance of this unique natural resource.”

The symposium, which is open to the public, will begin at 8 a.m. at Carlyle on the Green in Bethpage State Park in Farmingdale.

To attend, call Paige Weiners at 516-829-8374 or email her at Pweiners@zimmed.com by Monday.
