It's unclear how quickly Long Island Rail Road service will be fully restored when a resolution to the strike is reached.

“It takes time to restart the country’s busiest commuter railroad,” Aaron Donovan, an MTA spokesman, said in an email.

He said the agency’s shuttle bus service “will remain available as long as service is suspended.”

The MTA has said the buses will be able to carry around 13,000 people during each commute.
