Wanted: Nationally known restaurant chain for a 6,500-square-foot eatery in Commack.
The PJ Venture shopping center — at the northwest corner of the Long Island Expressway and Sagtikos Parkway — wants to add a restaurant to the mall, company owner Peter Cosentino said Monday. He could not identify a potential tenant.
PJ Venture is asking the Town of Smithtown to approve a 6,500-square-foot section of the mall for use as a restaurant. The request will go before the town planning board at 8 p.m. Wednesday night at the town senior center, 420 Middle Country Rd.
The restaurant requires approval of a site plan by the Smithtown Town Board. The board may consider the site plan on Oct. 25.
Cosentino said PJ Venture plans to market the space to restaurant chains after receiving site-plan approval.
“Sometimes these things take a long time,” he said. “We don’t have anything in particular at this time.”
The mall’s tenants include Home Depot, Kohl’s, Walmart, Target and Guitar Center.
