Developer and recycling company owner Anthony Leteri is scheduled to address the Kings Park Civic Association at the group’s meeting today at 7:30 p.m. at Kings Park High School.

Leteri, owner of USA Recycling on Lawrence Road, has asked the Town of Smithtown for a zoning change on a neighboring property on Old Northport Road. Leteri hopes to buy the land and build an outdoor storage facility there. Current zoning on the property does not allow outdoor storage.

Many residents have questioned the project, saying noise, dust and odors from the Old Northport Road facility would get worse with a legal outdoor storage facility.

The civic association also plans to discuss a zoning issue involving KPE II, a precast concrete contractor on Old Northport Road. A State Supreme Court judge on Monday issued a temporary restraining order barring the company from storing and processing waste at the site.

The group also wants to discuss a pair of homes that are scheduled for demolition because Town of Smithtown inspectors have deemed them unsafe.
