The Dix Hills Park pool will soon become more handicapped-accessible, now that the Huntington Town board has approved the purchase of a chair lift.
The board voted to spend as much as $5,000 to purchase and install an American with Disabilities Act-compliant chair lift at the outdoor, 50-meter swimming pool. The facility currently has a ramp for the handicapped but no chair lift.
The funds will be transferred from the Open Space Land and Park Improvement Fund, according to town documents.
The pool opens on June 15.
