Don't throw lit cigarettes from cars

I was not surprised to read about six horses dying in a trailer fire ["Trainer shocked when told of horse's death in fire," News, April 20]. Throwing lit cigarette butts out of open car windows is common practice. Smokers do this all the time. They throw their cigarettes anywhere they please, never realizing the consequence it brings to our environment, people, and as is suspected in this case, six horses.
Let's get the word out to all the people who smoke to be more respectful to our environment, to others, to themselves and to place their cigarettes into the correct place.
