The Long Island Association is being flooded with resumes from people who want to run Accelerate Long Island, one of the LIA's premier economic development efforts.

The LIA ran ads in Sunday's New York Times and Newsday seeking an executive director for Accelerate Long Island, and by Monday morning, 50 resumes had come in online, said LIA president Kevin Law. Before the newspaper ads ran, the LIA had received 12 resumes.

"The ones that came in were impressive," Law said.

Law said the ads will remain on the LIA's website for another few weeks and the search will end by the close of February. After that, the board of Accelerate Long Island will interview the more promising candidates before someone is selected in a few months.

Accelerate Long Island links the Island's research labs and universities in an attempt to take technologies developed at the institutions and turn them into businesses.
