Sonic, the 1950s-style drive-in restaurant chain, is seeking to build its first location in Nassau, but some neighbors are fighting back. Some East Meadow residents say their neck of the woods doesn't need the added traffic along Hempstead Turnpike. Sonic's attorney argues there's no reason for residents to have a beef with the burger chain. He says a traffic expert has testified that the Turnpike won't be affected by a new eatery. Residents say they'd like to see more studies done before the drive-in parks in their neighborhood.
