Chip Kelly named quarterback Nick Foles Tuesday as the Eagles' starter for the rest of the season. The Eagles (6-5) are tied for first in the NFC East with Dallas.

Foles, in his second year, has played parts of seven games this season. In five starts, he's 4-1, and overall, he has thrown for 1,554 yards with 16 touchdowns and no interceptions. His quarterback rating of 128.0 is on pace to break the regular-season record of Aaron Rodgers (122.5), set in 2011.

Petitgout cleared

Former Giants and Bucs tackle Luke Petitgout was cleared of charges of shoving his wife out of a moving car. The Manhattan district attorney's office dropped the misdemeanor harassment case. Prosecutors told a judge it couldn't be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.

Flacco rips Wildcat

Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco wasn't happy with coach John Harbaugh's decision to use backup quarterback Tyrod Taylor in the Wildcat formation for five snaps Sunday against the Jets.

"I don't like that stuff," Flacco said. "I think it makes you look like a high school offense. I just think it makes us look like not an NFL team."

The NFL suspended Seahawks cornerback Walter Thurmond for four games for violating the league's substance-abuse policy . . . Redskins defensive end Stephen Bowen (knee) is out for the season . . . The Titans agreed to terms with kick returner Leon Washington and waived Devon Wylie, who lost a fumble on a kickoff and bobbled a punt Sunday . . . Dan Meers, who has been the Chiefs' mascot since 1989, was in stable condition after being injured Saturday while rehearsing a zip-line routine at Arrowhead Stadium. A friend said Meers suffered a serious back injury.
