Earth Day cleanups scheduled

The Levittown Community Council, in partnership with the Town of Hempstead, will host the seventh annual Earth Day cleanup Saturday.
The volunteer event will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. Participants will meet at the OfficeMax parking lot, on 3350 Hempstead Tpke., where areas to be cleaned up in Levittown will be assigned to groups.
Workers are asked to bring rakes, brooms and work gloves. The town will provide garbage bags. In the event of rain, the event will be held Sunday.

The Town of Hempstead Democratic Committee’s Environmental Caucus will host an Earth Day cleanup at Hempstead Lake State Park in West Hempstead on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Interested participants should meet at 9:30 a.m. at the park’s Field No. 1 to help clean up three sites. Volunteers will need to sign a service agreement and minors will need their parents or guardians to sign.
Parking fees will be waived, and cleanup supplies, water and a light snack will be provided. Participants should wear long sleeves, long pants and closed-in shoes.
