The annual Great East End Clean-up will take place in Southampton on Saturday and Sunday, and officials say they expect to surpass the number of registrants from last year.
In the event, volunteers from all over the East End clean up beaches and parks, as well as walking trails and roadsides, in time for the summer tourist season. Southampton Town provides garbage bags, disposal passes for the transfer stations and garbage pickup sticks for the cleanup.
Last year’s volunteers reached 700, Councilman Christopher R. Nuzzi said. Many were with organizations, such as civic groups, girl and boy scout troops, and students.
“We couldn’t do it without them,” Nuzzi said of the volunteers.
Registration takes place online is at southamptontownny.gov, or call the town at 631-283-5210.
