Site plan approvals for a proposed industrial park near Francis S. Gabreski Airport in Westhampton Beach are still being finalized, but the park's developer, Plainview-based Rechler Equity Partners, is already in discussions with prospective tenants.
The so-called Hampton Business District is to be comprised of nine buildings totaling 440,000 square feet. Rechler Equity Partners' managing partner, Mitchell Rechler, said he hopes to break ground by year's end. A tenant could be at the park by mid-2013, Rechler said.
At 10 a.m. Friday, a Rechler Equity sales office will open at One Riverhead Rd., Bldg. 90, Westhampton Beach.
"We're sort of officially staking our flag . . . there and making it clear to the East End business community that we're open for business," Rechler said.
He said one of the tenants his company is talking to is a home and building-supplies company that he declined to name. Are they close to a deal? "No," Rechler said. "But we have proposals going back and forth."
