East Hampton Town to consider 'no standing' zone

After getting complaints about traffic safety from the Springs school board, East Hampton Town is considering changing code to create a “no standing” zone near the school and imposing restrictions on other nearby streets.

The town board will hold a public hearing on Sept. 5 on the proposed restrictions, which include no-stopping and no-standing restrictions near the school, a stop sign and left-turn ban on Ed Hults Lane at School Street, and other parking restrictions.

At the same meeting, the town board will hold a public hearing on a proposed “no standing” ban on the west side of Springs-Fireplace Road between Pennsylvania Avenue and Park Place, where officials say trucks that park on the road restrict the line of sight.

The hearings will begin at 7 p.m. in East Hampton Town Hall.
