The district is proposing a budget of $50,487,140 for the 2010-11 school year, a 2.43 percent increase over this year's $49,291,119 budget. The local tax levy would rise 3.35 percent to $46,646,909 from $45,135,667.

The average homeowner with a house assessed at $2,490 would pay $15,294 in school property taxes, a 2.96 percent increase from the current $14,854.

The proposed budget includes a 3.25 percent increase in teacher salaries, plus a scheduled step increase. To save money, the district is increasing the average high-school class size slightly, from 20.5 students per class to 21.

Barbara Sloan is running unopposed for the seat of Ellen Ritz, who is not seeking re-election. David Keefe is running unopposed for the seat of John O'Kelly, who is not seeking re-election. Both seats have three-year terms.
