RESTAURANTS

If you are like us, you probably feel a bit uncertain eating at Rein, the expensive restaurant at the Garden City Hotel, during this recession. But this month there will be no need for that, at least if you're there for breakfast.

The hotel said it will donate all of its February breakfast menu profits to the Nassau County chapter of the American Red Cross in support of Haiti relief efforts.

Patrick Smalley, the hotel's executive vice president, said he did not know how much money will be collected, but that an average breakfast is $19. The restaurant sees between 60 and 80 people.

"I don't want to make any predictions, but our donation is going to be in the thousands" of dollars, Smalley said.

The restaurant, he said, does a fairly good breakfast business, even though dinner is the most popular meal.
