Eerie scenes play out Sunday

The suspension of rail service has caused eerie scenes across the system.
At Jamaica, the waiting room was shuttered behind a small barricade. Police officers stood guard near one of the track entrances as some people milled about.
A digital sign listed every scheduled train, eastbound and westbound, as “No Passengers.”
Forty miles east, Ronkonkoma station was devoid of activity, both outside the waiting room and on the platform. If the strike continues Monday, Ronkonkoma will have shuttle bus service to Manhattan, but officials say they can only hold a fraction of the riders usually accommodated by the LIRR.
