Some early numbers from key congressional races are signaling a potentially big night for Democrats.

Those include a Democratic challenger significantly ahead in an Indiana district held by Republican Victoria Spartz, with more than half the votes counted. And Democrats in Florida are winning in multiple seats that Republicans had redrawn to favor the GOP.

The non-partisan Cook Political report has Democrats ahead five races that were listed as leaning or likely Republican heading into Tuesday’s voting. And Republicans are not ahead in any races likely or leaning Democrat.

In all, Democrats are leading in 21 currently held Republican districts, while Republicans lead in just one currently held Democratic district.

However, a Republican does have in a lead with less than 23% of the vote counted in what was being cast as a bellwether — a western Kentucky House district being vacated by a Republican running for the Senate.

Meanwhile, early returns are coming in some Senate races.

In a key Senate race in Ohio, former Democratic Sen. Sherrod Brown is leading incumbent Republican Sen. John Husted. In Texas, James Talarico, the Democratic candidate for an open Senate seat, is ahead.

And AP was already calling the Senate race in Georgia for incumbent Democratic Sen. Jon Ossoff over Republican Rep. Mike Collins.
