Elena Brosseau, Suffolk County Scholar Artist for November 2014
Elena Brosseau is a student leader in the film program at the Long Island High School for the Arts (LIHSA).
Elena writes, casts, directs, photographs and edits her own movies in addition to executing the responsibilities of first assistant director, assistant camera operator, script supervisor, sound operator and gaffer on other school projects.
Elena contributes to school events by videotaping evening functions and student. She has been recognized by her peers for her work as Editor-in-Chief and Layout Editor of The Warrior, Comsewogue High School’s student newspaper, in 2012 2014.
In addition to her artistic endeavors, Elena is a peer tutor in multiple academic areas, holds membership in the Girls Leaders and Lupus Awareness Clubs and serves on the Comsewogue Senior Citizen Prom committee. She is on honor roll at both LIHSA and Comsewogue High School and is a member of the National Honor Society.
Outside of school, Elena volunteers in the Brookhaven Cleanup Initiative and Global Youth Service programs. Elena is currently in pre-production on her next LIHSA film and applying to undergraduate film schools across the country.
