WHAT Elizabeth Sloan Tyler, winner of the 70th Annual Guild Hall Artist Members' Exhibition Part 1 in 2008, gets a reward - a solo show at the museum. "Landscape has always been my main inspiration," says Tyler, an Abstract Expressionist who moved to the East End in the '80s, in part because she was drawn to its light and landscapes. She began working exclusively in oil - the paintings in the show are oil on canvas - textured at times with such natural materials as sand and seaweed. "August" uses sand in what appears to be a beach-at-moonrise scene. Also at Guild Hall: "Cities of Peace" by Springs artist Ellen Frank and her Illumination Arts Foundation. More on her show soon.

WHEN | WHERE 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, noon to 5 p.m. Sundays, through Nov. 28, with a gallery talk at 3 p.m. Nov. 20, at Guild Hall, 158 Main St., East Hampton ("Cities of Peace" runs through Jan. 16.)
